Empire State Development

Division of Science and Technology

The mission of NYSTAR is to help new and existing businesses become more competitive through the use of innovative technologies. A key part of the strategy for doing this has been to strengthen the research and technology capabilities of our colleges and universities to help create the intellectual capacity which drives high tech growth. NYSTAR's programs emphasize the importance of working with industry to leverage our technology strengths to produce new products and, therein, new and expanded jobs in the state.

National Institute of Standards and Technology

Founded in 1901, NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce. NIST's mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.

Workforce Development Institute

The Workforce Development Institute (WDI) is a statewide 501(c)3 non-profit that improves the lives of working men and women across New York State by providing targeted programs in workforce, economic, and community development. A focus on helping businesses become and remain successful is a key component of this programming. Healthy businesses provide employment opportunities for New York’s citizens and, in turn, are dependent on a well-trained workforce and community support. The WDI works to ensure that investments in all three areas – workforce, economic and community development – are integrated and reflect the perspectives of working men and women. WDI’s agenda is shaped by the needs of specific regions, businesses, or unions.

Cornell Center for Materials Research

Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) program provides support for interdisciplinary materials research and education of the highest quality while addressing fundamental problems in science and engineering that are important to society. The centers undertake materials research of a scope and complexity that would not be feasible under traditional funding for individual research projects or small groups.

Council of Industry

The Council of Industry has been the manufacturer's association for the Hudson Valley since 1910. We are a privately funded not-for-profit organization, whose mission is to promote the success of our member firms and their employees, and through them contribute to the success of the Hudson Valley Community.

The Council of Industry has provided management training for manufacturers for more than fifty years. We are continually improving the content and direction of our training by keeping close contact with the needs of our members.

NY Pollution Prevention Institute

The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) is a statewide research and technology transfer center funded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. RIT and its partner universities, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Clarkson University, and the University of Buffalo, along with the state's ten regional technology development centers (RTDC) together comprise the NYSP2I.

The vision for the NYSP2I is to foster the transformation and development of sustainable businesses and organizations in New York State in a collaborative program committed to making the State a leader in environmental stewardship.
